RADIOLOGY DIANOSTIC IMAGING

Okanogan Douglas Hospital is ever trying to stay connected with today’s technology. Diagnostic imaging has come a long way and is sure to keep climbing as we get more and more advanced. Our facility prides itself in keeping up with the times without losing the most important element of a rural hospital and that is “patient care.” We pride ourselves in our ability to keep this at the forefront and not lose sight of why we are here.

In 2007 we started by updating our x-ray room with digital fluoroscopy. In order to keep up with the technology, in 2009 we updated to our 16 slice CAT scan. Our single slice machine had done a good job but was slowly wearing out. Currently we are working toward a more efficient and more current mammography options.

At Okanogan Douglas Hospital we are able to offer a wide variety of diagnostic imaging modalities. In combination with those aforementioned, we also offer Ultrasound, (vascular, cardiac, OB, and arterial) and MRI once a week to help those who are unable or choose not to travel to a larger facility for these studies. All of our studies are read the same day and usually have no problem getting a final report within an hour after the study was done. We also have the ability to send or receive studies done on mutual patients allowing them to get their studies done here, and then when they arrive at the ordering facility their provider has their results. This means less travel for the patient and less stress about potential outcomes. Providers love the efficient electronic access to patient information.

We staff the radiology dept. Mon-Fri 7 am-midnight. After midnight there is always a person on call for those late night/early morning emergencies.

    OUR STAFF INCLUDES:

    • Kimberly Freel -Ultrasound specializing in arterial and echocardiography.
    • Shelley Brown- Versatile in all modalities. She has been with ODH since 1996 and is our Technological Director for all modalities.
    • Surachit (Tim) Thomas- Came to us via Wenatchee Valley College as an extraordinary student and is our Mammography Supervisor.
    • Gary Owens- Also from WVC and has held up our night shift since he started here full time.
    • Laurel Hanks- Another WVC student hired as full time employee. She is also the Radiology Supervisor.
In addition we have three other techs, Carol Mettler, Charlene Dovich and Robert Johnson that work with us occasionally to fill in when needed.
