Money raised by the Relay for Life effort goes to research to find a cure for cancer.  The team members held fundraisers, solicited businesses to offer the honor cards and asked people for individual donations.   Each team member is requested to raise $100.00 which entitles them to a Relay for Life tee shirt.  Survivors of cancer who attend the walk are given a special tee shirt, medallion and flower.  Joyce Steele of Brewster said, “This was my first time at the Relay but I definitely plan to be there next year.  It was incredible”.   And, it is . . . .the event is full of merriment, food and fellowship.  The current committee of Janet Hanke (Columbia Medical and Surgical Services), Laura Hayner (Caribou Trail Orthopedic), Julie McKown (Medical Center), Nellie Arellano (Harmony House) and Brenda White (Okanogan Douglas Hospital) have already committed to the Relay in 2006.
